In Devour, artist Eddie Lohmeyer explores relationships between the horrors of consumerism and the banality of social media brunch culture through traditions in experimental animation. Integrating techniques in glitch datamoshing, found footage, and human-AI collaboration, Lohmeyer draws parallels among a sloppy Dagwood sandwich that explodes into flesh and teeth with concepts of the hungry ghost in Buddhism and Taoism: a creature that even after death is consumed with ego and greed, grasping at material desires in animalistic fashion.
